Teaches

Physniques Class

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

$20 per person - Physniques Holistic Weight Loss and Body Tone is a comprehensive health & fitness system for women, that includes a series of exercises & power moves inspired by Japanese Goju-Ryu karate and Northern Shaolin kung-fu combined with holistic weight loss and fitness strategies that focus on each woman's individual body make up and metabolism - hence, Physniques. Exercises to lose stomach fat, tone & firm up your body, increase energy, get rid of cellulite.

Brenda Jeanne Wyche, creator of Physiques, will be joining Dr. Hyman during the Physniques session to teach the Eight Silk Weaving exercises. It is the only system that students of the Shaolin Temple are allowed to share with outsiders of the temple because the lifesaving and longevity benefits are so potent, it is against the principles of the Temple to withhold such a sustaining gift.

The Eight Silk Weaving are internal organ exercises that, when practiced properly on a regular basis, build up strong chi, which can be used to improve one's own life as well as the lives of others.

You will learn the meaning of the Three Heaters and how to use the Eight Silk Weaving exercises to strengthen the immune system and maintain excellent health, vitality and longevity.

FAQs

Q: You have listed practitioner and vendor on your
application to rent space. What is the difference?
A: A practitioner provides a service and is paid for their
time. Most of the practitioners at the
Health Fair will be focusing on treatments by way of
energy (chi). It is important to operate in a
quiet environment is quiet to insure the best connection
between client and practitioner (relaxation music and
your relaxed breathing would be the only sounds heard,
although, sometimes there is very quiet chatter between
client and practitioner). Clients request a treatment at
Health Fairs usually for two reasons: to enjoy more of
their current service, or as an introduction to alternative
therapies and process the differences between allopathic
(conventional) medicine. Clients usually receive a card or
brochure for further education and service. The
practitioner's goal is to assist in healing the body and
helping the client appreciate the value of natural self care.
A vendor provides a product to sell and customers either
purchase the product or become educated about the
product. There is a great deal of interaction, as a result, the
environment is not quiet and talking becomes the best
connection between customer and practitioner.

Q. Will the vendors and practitioners be mixed together?
A. No the vendors are on the first floor, the practitioners
will be on the second floor in the quietness of
the library and the food will be in the basement.

Q. Do I have to undress for the practitioner services?
A. Energy practices can be done with clothing on.

Q. Do I have to lay down on a table for the services?
A. Energy services can be done on a table or in a chair?

Q. Are these services safe and will you be pushing religion?
A. The services are safe and no one will be pushing religion.
As a matter of fact, you will most likely become so relaxed,
you don't want to talk during the service.

Q. Why do practitioners pay less than vendors to rent a
space?
A. Practitioners provide an immediate service based on
time and skills. There is a standard price per minute, at
Health Fairs, it is usually $1.00 per minute with a
10 minute minimum. Vendors provide products that are
sold at various prices for different functions i.e. jewelry,
skin care, etc. Vendors also interact with more customers
than practitioners---practitioners work one on one while
vendors can work one on one or talk to a group
simultaneously.

Q. What is the admission fee?
A. Admission if free, just pay for the services or products
you want. You do not have to make reservations. You can
stay as long as you like.

Q. Can I try more than one service? Will there be a
problem if I do?
A. Yes, I just suggest that you give yourself a few
minutes before you move to another service and
consider drinking some water. No, problems, only
the rewards of even more relaxation and inner peace.

Q. What is the difference between vegetarian and
vegan foods?
A. Vegans do not eat dairy products.

Q. Do I have to try a service?
A. You can just shop and purchase/experience the
vendor products which are designed for natural
self care. You can purchase the delicious and healthy
foods (yes, I do mean delicious and healthy). You can
explore all the options. You can mix and mingle, it is
a safe place and all are encouraged to enter with an
open heart!

Q. What is EFT?
A. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) with
EFT
Brooklyn
,
a group of local women who are experts
in the art of healing and teaching EFT. Sign up for their
private sessions all day long ($20 for 30 minutes) at the
2-room location across from the library, and walk into
one room for FREE demonstrations of instant pain relief,
reductions of cravings, and lowering blood pressure.
EFT
includes a tapping technique, much like
acupuncture, but without the needles, that deals with the
human energy system. The EFT experts,
Carolyn Meiselbach, Mary Myers and Jondi Whitis teach
and demonstate this gentle, quick and effective technique
and encourage people to do it for themselves at home to
"get unstuck." That is to relieve their anger, past traumas,
fears, phobias, stresses, depression, and other
emotional problems of living.

Q. Can you provide more info on Reflexology?

A. Reflexology (also known as Happy Feet by many

clients) works on various parts of the feet for healing

or improving various parts of the body.

The practitioner uses the thumb and finger to apply

pressure on the reflexes that correspond to an organ or

gland and parts of the body as found in the feet and hands.

A reflexology chart shows the "reflex zones" worked

by reflexologists on the soles of the feet.

Similar maps exist for the position of the reflexes on

the hands and ears. In this chart, the color codes

represent the following organs or parts of the body:

Brain
Stomach

Sinuses
Spleen

Voice
Liver

Pituitary gland
Gall Bladder

Neck and Throat
Adrenal Gland

Eyes
Pancreas

Ears
Kidney

Armpit
Ureter

Shoulder and Arm
Bladder

Lung and Breast
Colon

Heart
Small Intestine

Thyroid and Bronchial
Coccyx

Solar Plexus
Sciatic Nerve

Diaphragm
Peyer's Patches
A. What do you mean by Energy?
Q. It is difficult to define Energy. In Africa and among
Native Americans, it is called Spirit, in China it is called
Chi, Japan Ki, India Prana. It cannot be seen or measured,
it cannot be touched or captured. It is everywhere, yet we
have no way to touch it, make it tangible, or even prove
its existence. Therefore, until you experience the energy
from a practitioner, energy is a difficult concept to accept.
The Western mind likes the tangible, the concrete and the
specific. It likes a scientific explanation which defines,
dissects, and categorizes. Energy transcends this kind of
explanation. It doesn't fit easily into a strict biomedical
framework. It is simply indefinable in those terms.

Energy is within the body, it is like power in a
rechargeable battery. Occasionally it needs to be
replenished. The energy of the universe is inexhaustible,
yet the body needs fresh energy to maintain its vitality.
When you are experiencing the "energy," you feel healthy
and vigorous. By energizing the body, it is revitalized
naturally, enabling it to fight off illness and maintain
good health. The true secret to replenishing energy
resides in our breathing. Breathing helps you focus so that
you can connect and listen to your body for guidance. The
"energy" practitioner serves as a channel or conduit and
partners with you for a strong connection. The connection
can be considered a gift or message
(from your perspective
-- Universe or God).
We also will have natural crafted products to purchase
which can also enhance your well being.

Q. Where is the best place to get more information on
these alternative services?
A. Reiki, Reflexology, Massages, Chi, etc. you can
search on the Internet but remember some sites are
full of sensational claims. I have tried to select ethical
practitioners who are interested in the "greatest good"
of their clients. Also, select vendors who are interested
in providing the best quality products for the
"greatest good" of their customers.
